Import Facebook and Instagram fundraiser and donor data into Social Sync using either the Meta Fundraising API or a fundraiser transaction report downloaded from Meta.
This helps bring organic fundraisers created outside Social Sync, and the donations made to them, into the same campaign and supporter view as the rest of your fundraising data.
For Facebook fundraisers created through Social Sync OneClick Forms, Meta can provide basic donation information in near real time. Until the full donor data is imported, these will appear as partial transactions linked to placeholder Unknown supporter records.
A full API or CSV import completes the donor information and converts these into full transactions.
Did you know you can automate your Facebook and Instagram imports? Enable nightly imports and Social Sync will automatically bring in new organic fundraiser and donor data each night, keeping your records up to date without the need for manual imports.
Use the calendar on the Facebook card to quickly check whether your Meta data is up to date.
Importing with the Meta Fundraising API
To run a manual API import:
Open the Import Hub – In Platform Imports, select Import on the Facebook card.
Choose API Import – Select API Import from the available options.
Select your Facebook account – Choose the correct connected account. If you have more than one, Social Sync will default to the most recently added.
Choose a date range – Select your own dates or use one of the preset ranges.
Continue – Social Sync will retrieve the fundraiser and donation records for that period.
Review the result – A success message will confirm the import has been accepted. If an error occurs, you can retry.
Once started, the import will appear in the Import History table.
The status will show whether it is Processing, Complete or has encountered an Error. To view a breakdown, open the menu next to the import and select Inspect.
Importing a Meta Transaction Report
You can also import Meta fundraiser and donor data using a transaction report downloaded directly from Facebook.
To import the report:
Open the Import Hub – Select Import on the Facebook card.
Choose CSV Import – Select CSV Import.
Upload your file – Drag and drop the CSV or select it from your device. The maximum file size is 10MB.
Review the upload result – Social Sync will confirm whether the file has been accepted or needs to be uploaded again.
Do not open the CSV between downloading it from Meta and uploading it to Social Sync. Opening and resaving the file can change its formatting and prevent it from importing correctly.
Successful uploads will appear in Import History, where you can monitor their status and select Inspect for a detailed breakdown.
Understanding Full and Partial Transactions
Meta can send Social Sync basic donation information for some Facebook fundraisers before the full donor record is available.
These appear as:
Full transactions – The donation and donor details have been fully imported into Social Sync.
Partial transactions – The donation has been received, but the full donor information has not yet been imported. Social Sync creates an Unknown supporter record as a temporary placeholder.
Once the corresponding donor data is received through an API or CSV import, Social Sync can complete the transaction and replace the placeholder information where a match is available.
This lets you see fundraising activity quickly without waiting for the complete Meta dataset.
Checking Facebook and Instagram Data by Date
Use the calendar on the Facebook card to review the Meta data Social Sync has received for a particular date.
Select a date to see:
Full transactions – Donations with complete donor information
Partial transactions – Donations still awaiting full donor details
Fundraisers – Number of fundraising pages recorded
Revenue – Total donation value
Dates are colour coded to help you quickly identify data status:
Green – Full transactions recorded
Amber – At least one partial transaction recorded
Grey – No data available
This gives you a quick way to spot gaps or identify dates where donor information still needs to be completed.
Enabling Nightly Imports
Nightly imports remove the need to regularly import Facebook and Instagram fundraiser data manually.
When enabled, Social Sync automatically retrieves new fundraiser and donor data from Meta each night.
The Facebook card will show:
Automated Imports Enabled – Nightly imports are active.
Enable Automated Imports – Nightly imports are not currently enabled.
To turn them on:
Select Enable Automated Imports on the Facebook card.
Turn on Automated nightly imports.
Close the panel once enabled.
The platform card will update to show Automated Imports Enabled.
Nightly imports help keep Facebook and Instagram fundraising data complete and up to date, reducing manual work and keeping supporter journeys connected.
