Facebook Fundraising Integration

How to connect your Facebook page to allow Social Sync to create fundraisers and import transaction reports.

👩‍💻 At a Glance

Connecting your organisation's Facebook page allows you to:

  • Utilise Social Sync's 1-click Facebook Fundraiser creation forms

  • Import transaction data from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) into Social Sync

Before you get started

Before you connect your organisation's Facebook page:

  • You'll need to have admin privileges on the Facebook page you want to connect. If you don't, you'll need to contact a colleague at your organisation to either add you as a page admin or to complete this integration on your behalf.

  • Your organisation's Facebook page must have Meta's fundraising tools enabled. If Meta's fundraising tools are not already enabled, you will need to sign up via Facebook. For support, take a loot at Meta's fundraising tools application guidance and check if your nonprofit is eligible. It may take a couple of weeks for Meta to process your application.

Connecting your organisation's Facebook page

Once your organisation's Facebook page has Meta's fundraising tools enabled, you can connect your organisation's Facebook page with Social Sync.

To connect your organisation's Facebook page:

  1. Get started – Click "Get Started" in the Facebook Fundraising API section.

  2. Connect Facebook Pages – In the pop-out window click the "Connect Facebook Pages" button. You'll need to be using your personal Facebook profile rather than your organisation's Facebook page.

  3. Select the Facebook Pages to connect – Once you connect your profile, a list of the Facebook pages you're an admin for will appear. Select the page you want to connect to Social Sync.

If the pages don't appear you may have to re-authenticate with facebook and grant Social Sync permission to manage the page. Alternatively, update the pages the Social Sync app can manage in the business integrations section of facebook settings.

  4. Confirm permissions – Social Sync requires all permissions to be enabled for the app to work properly.

  5. Link page – Click the "Link page" button to finalise the process.

  6. Activate nightly imports (pro feature) – This optional, pro feature automates the import of your transaction data on a daily basis.

Managing your organisation's Facebook API integration

Once set up, you can continue to manage your Facebook API integration on the Integrations page. Click "Manage integration" to:

  • View the current status of your Facebook integration

  • Connect additional pages (Pro only)

  • Reconnect your organisation's Facebook page – To reconnect, click the three vertical dots and then "Reconnect".

  • Disconnect your organisation's Facebook page – Disconnecting will instantly remove Social Sync's ability to create fundraisers for your organisation or retrieve any donation data via the charity reporting API. To disconnect, click the three vertical dots and then "Disconnect".
