Branded Fundraising Setup - Stripe Connect

How to connect your organisation's Stripe account to receive donations via Social Sync branded fundraisers and donation forms.

👩‍💻 At a Glance

Stripe is a well known online payment processor. Integrating your Social Sync account with Stripe will let you use our nonprofit branded fundraising pages to collect donations.

Stripe may make minor changes to the onboarding flow outlined in this article at any time. If you get stuck, please reach out to our support team.

Before you get started

The Stripe integration needs to be completed in one session by someone who is:

  • An administrator of your existing Stripe account
    OR

  • Authorised to set up a new payment provider if you don't already have a Stripe account.

If your organisation doesn't already have a Stripe account, you'll need to be able to provide some regulatory information. If it does, you'll need to confirm the existing regulatory information attached to the account.

You'll also need to be able to provide the name, occupation and date of birth of your Trustees.

Important note: Only one platform to be connected to a Stripe account at any time. This security measure ensures that when users interact with multiple platforms (like Social Sync), each platform's activity remains completely separate and secure.

This approach protects both user data and transaction integrity by maintaining clear boundaries between different platform integrations

Connecting your organisation's Stripe account

To get started with the Stripe set up:

  1. Connect – Click "Connect" in the Stripe section.

  2. Log in or create a Stripe account – On the log in page, enter the email address associated with your organisation's existing Stripe account or the email address you'd like to set up a new Stripe account with.

If the email address is associated with an existing account, you'll be prompted to log in. If not, you'll be prompted to create a new Stripe account.

    Click "Continue".

  3. Customise your new Social Sync integrated Stripe subaccount – Rather than sharing access to an existing Stripe account, which could create conflicts or security concerns, Stripe's onboarding automatically guides you to create a new subaccount.

You'll need to provide information about your organisation, such as your organisation's legal name, address, tax status and website. The exact information required differs based on country. Answer each question as required.

  4. Return to Social Sync – Once the onboarding is complete you'll be redirected back to Social Sync.

Setting up payment receipts

You have the option to set up a payment receipts in Stripe or directly through Social Sync. For guidance on setting up payment receipts in Social Sync, please take a look at [Account Settings > Organisation Info > Donation Receipts].

If you decide to set up your receipting process through Social Sync, be sure to disable receipts on Stripe to avoid supporters receiving multiple email receipts.
