Template pathways are a powerful way to maintain consistency across your campaigns. Whether you’re onboarding new leads or stewarding campaign registrants, saving your pathway as a reusable template helps ensure your tone, branding, and supporter experience remain aligned, without having to rebuild your journey from scratch each time.
Creating a Template Pathway
You can create a template from any existing pathway within a campaign.
1. Open your campaign
Navigate to the campaign where your pathway is located.
Click Edit in the top right corner of your campaign dashboard to access Campaign Settings.
2. Open Pathway Builder
Select the Journey tab to enter Pathway Builder.
Build or open the pathway you would like to save as a template.
3. Save your pathway as a template
In the top right-hand corner of the pathway canvas, click the three dots (…) menu.
Select Save as template.
Enter a Title and (optionally) a Description to help your team understand its purpose and best use cases.
Click Save.
Your pathway template is now available for your organisation to repurpose across other campaigns.
Viewing Your Template Library
All templates are stored centrally in your organisation’s Library.
Open the main account menu.
Click Library.
Select Pathways
Here you’ll see all pathway templates saved by your organisation. You can open and view each template’s nodes, but templates in the Library cannot be edited.
Important Note: If edits are needed, you’ll need to load the template into a campaign, make your changes in Pathway Builder, and then save it as a new template.
Using a Template to Build a New Pathway
When you want to repurpose a pathway for a new campaign:
Go to Pathway Builder within your chosen campaign.
Click the + (plus) icon in the top left of the builder.
Select Choose from template.
Pick the pathway template you want to use.
Your new pathway will now populate the canvas using the template’s configuration.
Important Note: To ensure your templated communications are relevant to your current campaign, please review your triggers, copy and merge fields carefully.
Important Notes When Using Templates
Triggers are not copied across
Templates do not carry over triggers.
You must manually set your trigger (e.g., Form Completed, Donation Made, Tag Added) for the pathway to run.
Review your copy thoroughly
Copy from the original campaign may contain:
campaign-specific dates
references to a particular event or fundraising activity
links unique to the previous campaign
supporter instructions or deadlines that may no longer apply
Always read and update each message before publishing.
Check your dynamic fields
Ensure all dynamic fields in your messages, buttons, and conditions are:
still relevant
still supported within your new campaign
correctly linked to the appropriate form, campaign, or fundraising platform
Dynamic fields linked to data not present in the new campaign may appear blank to supporters.
Publishing Your Pathway
Once you’ve reviewed your messages, set your triggers, and confirmed all dynamic fields are correct:
➡️ Click Publish to activate your pathway.
Your communications will not run until you publish.
