Managing Your Paris Marathon Campaign on Social Sync

Updated this week

Welcome to your step-by-step guide for using Social Sync to manage your Paris Marathon campaign. This guide will walk you through each section of your campaign set-up and ensure you're making the most of the platform, ahead of listings going live on the ASO website on 22nd April.

You'll be pleased to know, the core setup has already been done for you! All you need to do is wait for your applications to come in, to start accepting, rejecting and shortlisting! To do this simply follow these steps...

🧑‍💻 Application management

Accept, reject or shortlist applicants who complete your application forms by following these steps:

  1. Click on the Campaign page in the left hand menu of your account

  2. Select your campaign

  3. Select the Participants tab

  4. View your Applicants tab

  5. Click on an applicant to review their application

  6. Select Update Status

  7. Choose what status to assign

🔍 Navigating to Your Paris Marathon Campaign Settings

  1. Log into your Social Sync account.

  2. From your Campaigns dashboard, click into your Paris Marathon campaign.

  3. Switch to the New Editor.

  4. Use the left-hand menu to navigate to the different sections outlined in this guide.

🧾 Campaign Settings

This section controls how your campaign appears when shared via external links – for example, in link previews on Facebook, WhatsApp, or LinkedIn, so it’s important that your public title, description and image are clear and engaging.

Click on 'New Editor' to get started!

✅ You can edit:

  • Public Title
This is the title that appears in link previews when your campaign is shared externally. We recommend using something eye-catching and informative like:
Run the Paris Marathon for [Charity Name] in 2026!

  • Internal Title
Only visible within your Social Sync dashboard – for your reference.

  • Programme Fundraising Target
This is the overall fundraising target across all the places your charity has purchased. This will be pre-filled as £1,000 per place, but you can adjust it if your fundraising model differs.

  • Programme Image
This is prepolulated with the official ASO Paris Marathon image, but you may edit this if you wish.

  • Programme Description
This appears in link previews too – keep it short and supporter-friendly. Use it to briefly explain your charity’s involvement in the marathon and encourage people to take part.

❌ Do not edit:

These fields are fixed to ensure consistency across all Paris Marathon listings and campaigns:

  • Event Location

  • Programme Event Dates

  • Event Type

  • Activity Target

  • Programme URL – this is the official microsite URL already set up for you

  • Banner Images – official images have been uploaded for you and do not need replacing

Note: Programme Codes

At the bottom of the page, you can add Programme Codes.
Codes appear in data exports from Social Sync so that you can income code your data and clearly track income across different campaigns if you are an existing Social Sync user.

📃 Listing Page

This section is what appears on the official ASO Paris Marathon listings website. We recommend you only update this if you really need to, as it can affect your charity’s visibility.

You can edit:

  • Listing Title: This is your charity name as it will appear to the public.

  • Description: Briefly describe your mission and impact. Keep it concise and motivating.

  • Fundraising Target Per Supporter: Shown to the public as the minimum pledge.

  • Registration Cost: A display-only value. To actually update ticket pricing, go to the Tickets section.

🎟️ Tickets

Your ticket setup determines how each supporter is charged at registration.

Pre-loaded ticket:

You’ll already see a standard charity place ticket here.

  • Quantity = number of places you've purchased.

  • Ticket price = registration fee you submitted during listings.

  • Max purchase = how many places a supporter can claim (we recommend keeping this at 1).

You can also click on the ticket to:

  • Edit the ticket description to add clarity for supporters.

  • Upload a custom ticket image that displays during checkout.

Creating new tickets (optional):

Want to offer early bird, VIP, or top fundraiser discounts on your tickets?

  1. Click New Ticket.

  2. Name it clearly (e.g., Top Fundraiser Ticket).

  3. Set a lower price if needed.

  4. Set quantity (e.g., 5 out of 15 total places).

Note: Important

Be mindful of how many tickets you make available! You may create more tickets than what you have purchased in your package, but you may not assign more charity places than what you have purchased in your package.

Please do not forgot to attach your new custom ticket to a new user flow. Steps outlined below under 'User flows'!

💰 Fundraisers

This controls how your supporters' branded Social Sync fundraising pages are set up.

✅ You can edit:

  • Fundraiser Title: The title of each supporter’s fundraising page.

  • Fundraising Target: This is for each fundraiser and is based on what you submitted during listings. You can increase or decrease if needed.

  • Description: Appears at the top of each supporter’s page – a great place to highlight impact.

  • Fundraiser Banner: The official Paris Marathon banner is pre-loaded, but you can upload your own.

Note: Recommended image dimensions

To edit the banner image on the branded Social Sync fundraiser, make sure your image is 1280x500px

❌ Do not edit:

  • Fundraiser Duration – This has been preset to ensure pages don’t close too early.

Note: Activity logging (optional)

Enable Activity Logging if you want supporters to track their training miles. If enabled, be sure to tell them how to use it.

🔗 Integrations

This section mirrors the Fundraiser page but applies to fundraisers created on third-party platforms like GoFundMe or Facebook.

  • You’ll only see the platforms you’ve enabled for this campaign.

  • Most charities will only see GoFundMe unless you’ve added paid extra for the Facebook boost.

  • Everything is editable, just like in the Fundraiser section.

❌ Do not edit:

  • Fundraiser Duration – This has been preset to ensure pages don’t close too early.

🧑‍💻 User Flows

User flows are the backbone of your registration process. They:

  • Collect supporter details

  • Process ticket payments (for charity places)

  • Automatically create fundraising pages

You’ll have:

  • One Charity Place flow (with ticket)

  • One Own Place flow (no ticket, no payment)

To review:

  1. Click into a flow.

  2. A modal will open.

❌ Do not edit:

  • Flow Objective: This should always be set to Branded Fundraiser.

  • Ticket Assignment: Each flow has already been linked to the correct ticket (e.g., charity place flow → charity place ticket).

Note: Own-place flow

As an own place runner will not need to pay a registration fee, therefore the 'own place' flow will not be linked to any ticket.

✅ You can edit:

  • You can create a new registration flow if you have created a custom ticket type. This will allow you to link your new ticket to a new registration flow.

  • Details Tab (Customise what information you collect from supporters):

    • Registrant information (e.g., title, phone, date of birth etc)

    • Age restrictions should be switched on. Set 'born before date' to 31/12/2026, as all registrants must be aged 20 years or older by 31 Dec 2026 to register for this event.

    • Add merchandise requesting if you are distributing charity products to runners.

    • Add Terms & Conditions and Marketing Consent (this block is scrollable and allows you to include links).

    • Choose platforms for marketing consent: Email, Phone, SMS, or Fundraiser Message (note: fundraiser message only applies if using Facebook).

Note: Merchandise requests can be tracked in the Order tab when you first click into your Campaign via the dashboard.

Checkout & Confirmation:

  • Before going live, preview your checkout and confirmation page.

  • Click Save when done – but don’t worry, it won’t publish until listings go live.

Sharing registration flow links:

Want to send people directly to a registration flow?

  • Click the three dots next to a flow.

  • Copy the link.

Note: Links

Make sure you're sending the right link to the right people (e.g., own place runners shouldn’t get the charity place form).

🌐 Site

This is where you can customise your Paris Marathon microsite.

  • Includes fundraising stats, a running totaliser, and a fundraiser leaderboard.

  • You can style and edit the page freely

✅ You can edit:

  • You are able to fully edit your microsite by simply clicking 'Edit Site'.

  • Add new blocks by clicking the + symbol

🧾 Custom Forms

You can use this to create application forms outside of the official ASO process to share on your own website or within your own emails.

  1. Go to Custom Forms.

  2. Click New Form > Choose Application Form.

  3. Add blocks (logo, media, questions, legal info).

  4. Use the form wherever you like – on your website, email campaigns, or social media.

These do not affect the official ASO application process.

All submissions will filter through to your Social Sync account under 'Participants'.

🧠 Pathways

Pathways are where your automated email communications live. They:

  • Prompt successful applicants to completed their registration (pay registration fee and create their fundraiser)

  • Prompt fundraisers to activate their fundraisers by raising money

✅ You can edit:

You are able to edit your emails, if you wish to change language or images, but this is not essential.

To edit an email:

  1. Pause the pathway.

  2. Click the email you want to update.

  3. Make your changes.

  4. Save and re-publish the pathway.

⚙️ Rule Builder (optional)

Use Rules to send personalised emails based on simple supporter behaviour.

Example:

  • Trigger: Supporter raises £500

  • Action: Send a congratulations email

This is a great way to build stewardship without manual effort.
