On Page Messaging

How to schedule personalised messages for supporters’ Facebook fundraising pages

👩‍💻 At a Glance

On-Page Messaging Tasks let you build personalised Facebook fundraiser messages into your supporter journeys.

When a supporter reaches an On-Page Message touchpoint, Social Sync creates a task and adds it to your Task Centre queue for your team to complete.

Use On-Page Messaging to:

  • Thank supporters on their Facebook fundraising page

  • Share personalised calls to action

  • Add another stewardship touchpoint alongside email, SMS and WhatsApp

  • Reach organic Facebook fundraisers where direct contact information may not be available

  • Capture additional supporter information using Custom Forms

  • Track message completion and performance with journey tags

On-Page Messaging can be combined with triggers, delays and conditions to create personalised, multichannel behavioural supporter journeys.

When to Use On-Page Messaging

On-Page Messaging can be used for both:

  • Organic Facebook fundraisers

  • Facebook fundraisers created through Social Sync OneClick Forms

It is particularly useful for organic fundraisers, where Meta may provide limited supporter contact information.

Posting directly on the fundraiser gives you another way to acknowledge and engage the supporter through the platform they have chosen to fundraise on.

For example, you could:

  • Welcome or thank a new fundraiser

  • Congratulate them on their fundraising progress

  • Encourage them to share their page

  • Signpost them to additional campaign information

  • Ask them to complete a short form so you can provide further support

Adding an On-Page Message to a Journey

Add an On-Page Message in the same way you would add other touchpoints to your Journey Builder pathway.

Place the task wherever you want it to be created within the supporter journey.

You can combine it with:

  • Triggers

  • Delays

  • Conditions

  • Other communication touchpoints

  • Behavioural journey logic

When an eligible supporter reaches the touchpoint, Social Sync creates the task and adds it to the Task Centre queue.

If the supporter does not have an eligible Facebook fundraiser, the task will be skipped and their journey will continue.

Creating Your Message

Give the task a clear title so your team can easily understand its purpose when it appears in the Task Centre.

Then write the message you want your team to post on the supporter’s Facebook fundraising page.

Messages can contain up to 2,000 characters, giving you enough space to create a meaningful message while keeping it suitable for an on-page interaction.

Use the preview to check how your message will appear before saving the touchpoint.

Personalising Your Message

Use Merge Fields to personalise the message with information already held in Social Sync.

Depending on the supporter and campaign, you can include information such as:

  • Supporter name

  • Campaign details

  • Event information

  • Motivation

  • Fundraising information

  • Personalised links

This allows the same On-Page Message touchpoint to create relevant, individual messages for every supporter who reaches it.

Adding Calls to Action

You can include links that encourage the supporter to take a useful next step such as:

  • Share their Facebook fundraiser

  • Visit their connected branded fundraising page

  • Complete a campaign action

  • Access additional campaign information

For organic Facebook fundraisers, you can also include a Custom Form to collect additional supporter information.

For example, you could thank someone for creating a birthday fundraiser and invite them to complete a short form so your team can learn more about their fundraising and provide additional support.

Information submitted through the form can then be added to their supporter record in Social Sync.

Adding Journey Tags

Select tags to add to the supporter’s audience record when the task is marked as complete.

Tags can help you:

  • Track which supporters have received specific messages

  • Report on stewardship activity

  • Include completion data in exports

  • Measure the impact of On-Page Messaging

  • Compare different stewardship approaches

For example, you could compare the performance of supporters who received an On-Page Message with those who did not.

Setting a Due Date

Use Due By to set how long your team has to complete the task after it is created.

For example, you might set a welcome or thank-you message to be completed within two working days.

The due date is automatically calculated when the task is created and helps your team prioritise work in the Task Centre.

What Happens Next

Once your pathway is live, an On-Page Messaging Task will be created whenever an eligible supporter reaches the touchpoint.

The task will appear in the Task Centre, where your team can open the supporter’s Facebook fundraising page, post the personalised message and mark the task as complete.

Any configured journey tags will then be added automatically to the supporter’s audience record.

For more information on completing and managing tasks, see our Task Centre guide.

Using On-Page Messaging as Part of Your Journey

On-Page Messaging works best as part of the wider supporter experience rather than as a standalone action.

Combine it with email, SMS, WhatsApp and other journey touchpoints to reach supporters in the right place at the right time.

For supporters fundraising directly through Facebook, it can provide a valuable additional route to thank, engage and steward them while keeping the activity connected to the rest of their journey in Social Sync.
