An API token is a secure key that allows an authorised application, such as your CRM, to access your organisationâs Social Sync Reporting API.
You can create and manage API tokens from Account Settings > API.
For security:
A token is only shown once, when it is first created
You should store it securely before closing the window
Each application should ideally have its own token
Multiple tokens can be active at the same time
Tokens remain active until you delete them
Treat API tokens like passwords and only share them with the people responsible for setting up your integration.
Requesting Access to the Reporting API
If your organisation does not yet have access to the Reporting API, the API page will show Request access to the reporting API feature instead of the option to create a token.
Select this button and submit the pre-filled message in the chat window.
Social Sync will then contact you with the next steps.
Creating an API Token
To create a token:
Go to Account Settings.
Select API.
Select Create token.
Give the token a clear name that describes where it will be used, such as your CRM or integration name.
Select Create token again to generate it.
Copy and securely save the token immediately.
Select Done once it has been stored safely.
You will not be able to view the token again after closing the window.
We recommend creating a separate API token for each application so you can easily identify and revoke access without affecting other integrations.
Managing Active API Tokens
Your active tokens are listed in the API table.
For each token, you can see information such as:
Token name
Date created
Last used
The token itself is never displayed again after creation.
This makes it easier to see which integrations currently have access to your Social Sync API and whether they are still being used.
Renaming an API Token
You can rename a token without changing the token itself or interrupting the integration using it.
Go to Account Settings > API, open the menu next to the token and select Edit.
Enter a new descriptive name and select Save.
Clear naming is useful when you have multiple tokens active for different CRMs, systems or integrations.
Deleting an API Token
Delete a token when an integration is no longer required, the token may have been compromised or you need to replace it.
Go to Account Settings > API, open the menu next to the token and select Delete.
Deleting a token immediately removes API access for any application using it. This cannot be undone and the deleted token cannot be recovered.
If the application still needs access, create a new token and update the integration with the replacement.
Keeping API Access Secure
Use a separate token for each application and only share tokens through secure channels.
If you are unsure where a token is being used, check its name and Last Used information before deleting it.
Keeping tokens separate makes it easier to manage access, replace credentials and disconnect individual integrations without affecting the rest of your setup.
